Bookmarks stopped working completly. Can't save any on either one of my computers

Firefox bookmarks do not work anymore on my laptop or desktop pc. I am using version 3.6.8. I have to use Samfind. The problem with that is they don't have folders to organize like firefox did. Can you help?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
