Mac OS X 10.5.8- trying to download Ffox 6.spins-says it is done-no icon to move to application folder. What's my problem?

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
- Firefox 6.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded
Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
Thank you. Although I was very leery of this suggestion, I tried it. I received the message that part of it could not be downloaded - it was damaged - and to contact the server. I think I'll just stick with 3.6.2. Being a novice on the computer, I tend to be very nervous about doing what I'm not sure of. However, I appreciate your help.
