Linux - correct version of Adobe Flash is installed - Firefox still can't find it

My operating system is Ubuntu 10.04. Adobe Flash 10.3.183.7 for Ubuntu 10.04.1 is installed. Everything I do that requires this plugin says to install it - it is installed and has been re-installed. Please help.
