I can only store 11 items on bookmarks and 10 on recently bookedmarked. Why is this please? I wish to store more than this.

  • "Most Visited" and "Recently Bookmarked" are examples of the so called Smart Bookmarks folders and are not real existing folders.
  • Such smart folders show a list created by a query of the places.sqlite database that stores the bookmarks and the history in Firefox.
  • The bookmarks that show up in such smart folder listing are stored elsewhere in another folder and any changes made are applied to the real bookmark or history item.
  • Such lists show a maximum of 10 entries by default and you add a new bookmark or visit a website then a new item is added at the top and the entry at the bottom disappears from that list.
  • The items that are removed from the list are not gone, but merely do not show up anymore in that list.
  • Any actions like copy & paste or delete that you perform on bookmarks in such a list are done on the original bookmark.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you are saying regarding the'smart' folders etc. but how do I access and view the complete list of bookmarks in their 'real' folder?

I understand that I can enter the first letter to show bookmarks beginning with this letter but I wish to view the complete list of all the bookmarks at the same time. My AOL homepage, which I very rarely use as it is slow, shows the complete list of 'favourites' all together. How do I do this on Firefox please?

Thanks, Ray

Open the bookmarks in the Bookmarks Manager (Library; Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) or in the sidebar (Ctrl+B; View > Sidebar > Bookmarks) to see them all.

Thanks again. Unfortunately I cannot locate 'Bookmarks Manager' anywhere. Also, I don't seem to have a 'sidebar' whatever that is. I have tried all the permutations that you suggest but I cannot find 'library;bookmarks' and pressing Ctrl+B does nothing at all. Where do I find 'Bookmarks Manager' or the Sidebar please?

Thanks, Ray

"Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks" has been renamed to "Show All Bookmarks" in Firefox 4 and later.
