Evey time I close Firefox, I must delete it from Task Manager, otherwise it won't launch again.

This behavior started this morning. Am using Firefox 3.6.18 under Windows 7.

I launch firefox, use it, and then File/Exit. Next time I click on the Firefox icon to launch the program, it gives me this message: "Firefox is already running but is not responding." I have to kill the process in Task Manager every single time I use Firefox.

Based on some other similar questions that I found about this, I ran an exhaustive virus scan using Norton Security Suite and found no malaware or viruses.

update -- I also ran a full scan using Microsoft Safety Scanner, and it reported as follows:

"The scan completed successfully and no viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software were detected."
