There are a number of links at the bottom of the startup screen. How can I get rid of these?

At the foot of the opening screen Firefox shows a number of external links. The first is for gaming sites, the second forgambling. There are two links for joining madasafish!. I do not like this set of links. I can always define my own choice of links as bookmarks.

Sounds like adware, either due to a currently visited site, or because of something now installed on the computer.

If you open with just a homepage, unrelated to those subjects do you still see this ?
