Since Firefox update 5.0, the browser doesn't start up normally.

Since I updated to 5.0, Firefox performs an add-on compatibility check every time I start it, and when it opens, displays the welcome page for 5.0 about fabulous tabs instead of the homepage, or the blank page I have it set to. Is there a way to have it start normally like it did before the update? Also, I uninstalled manually because the built in uninstaller didn't work, and reinstalling 5.0 didn't change anything.
