Scrolling glitches
Each time i post something, prior to Preview, i try pasting the text within my textbox to clipboard, because i learned from past experience that failing to do so puts me at risk of losing everything i typed.
When I use Control-Home & Control-End in I.E. and then drag mouse to hilite the text within the box, it functions perfectly.
On the other hand, when doing so in Firefox, the mouse sloppily rolls BEYOND THE PARAMETERS of the textbox.
That's very unruly & stressful.
I should add, that within this box i'm typing into right now, Firefox scrolling is working OK, but it glitches in other textboxes, such as on forums.

You can use Ctrl + A to select all text in a text area.
You can also use Ctrl + Home to go to the begin of the text if the text area has focus and then press Shift + Ctrl + End if you want to use that method to select all the text. Shift + any key that moves the cursor selects text, so press Shift first. The mouse pointer should stay in the text area if you first click there and then select text while keeping the left mouse button pressed.

Thanks again! If only i'd known that long long ago, how much less stressful my life would have been - seriously, not just kidding. Because every extra step takes a toll on time & energy. Besides, it kept adding lint to my mouse's rubber ball. I avoid optical due to wanting to lessen EMFs.
Actually, if CONTROL-A does the trick, doesn't that render the rest of the alternatives redundant?
Especially the part about Shift (and mouse) confused me.
P.S. for the sake of ignoramuses like myself, FF may want to consider:
(1) Defaulting Match case - to be without check mark
(2) Next to the Reload/Refresh icon - include an icon somewhat like this clipboard icon http://webunivercity.com/images/icons/clipboard_icon.gif - and when anyone hovers over it, they'll see: Copies text to Clipboard (Alternative: Control-A)

Yes, you do not need the others if you use Ctrl+A to select and Ctrl+C to copy.
I added them for completeness because you mentioned them.
See also the Edit menu (use Alt+E) for the shortcut keys and the right-click context menu to see all edit commands.
I usually start at the end of the text if I select text with the mouse because selecting the first character on a line can be tricky.
You can find toolbar buttons for Copy, Paste, and Cut in the toolbar palette.
