How can I restore bookmarks after my imac's hard drive was replaced?

I brought my imac to apple. I accepted the geniuses' advice to replace the hard drive. I restored my documents, and some applications, using time capsule and time machine. How can I restore my Firefox and Safari bookmarks?

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

That article did not help. This is a brand new hard drive and it does not have a backup file to use for restoring. Are the bookmarks saved by Firefox anywhere?

They are saved in places.sqlite file in profile directory. see profiles
