If I understand correctly "Home" toolbar button or "Alt+Home" brings up the Google Partner search page http://web.newsplus.com page. When you tried to replace the home page with your own did you press "OK" at the bottom.
Try again, and test it. You can also check that about:home typed into the Location bar provides you with the default Home page supplied by Mozilla.
If the problem is not solved or the about:home does not provide the correct page then you will want to go into about:config and filter on web.nessplus and see what you find there -- you can right-click on the item to reset to the default.
Another place to look would be your cookies, search for nessplus and delete any cookie that contains that text string. If you don't know how to search for such a cookie and delete it see topic "Delete cookies for a single site" in Deleting cookies | How to | Firefox Help -- don't delete all of your cookies that would be overkill.
Do you know where or how you got tricked into installing it.

Do you use the add-on called "HOME BOOK LINKS" to enable "download this file" of IDM notification for getting links? Just disable this add-on and install the IDM 6 (then use the add-on IDM CC 7.2.3 instead).
I am having the same problem. qbuitu, I do not use the HOME BOOK LINKS, however, I noticed I have it listed in my addons. I disabled it, but I am still having the same problem. Any other suggestions?
I don't have homebooklinks in my add-on list, however this is what i found
- Go to about:config
- search for extensions.homebooklinks
- Double click on all the values that have nessplus and leave those fields blank
NOTE: This is a very dirty quick fix. Im still figuring out how homebooklinks got into my system.
