As of just today, whenever i play a video in firefox, the volume suddenly drops to next to nil. The problem is that i didn't change ANYTHING. I looked at my volume control, feeling that something was wrong there. And it was. link text This is what i saw. I tried numerous times to change the volume back, and every few minutes it would return to what it was in the picture. Any ideas WHY it's suddenly doing this? Nothing has changed, but it just started today.

Try updating Adobe Flash to the latest version. Your current installation exposes your system to exploits. See http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-12.html

You also need to update Adobe Reader. See http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-08.html

The Java update is not a security issue, but does enable Java to improve performance in Firefox 4.0.x
