How do I close tabs?
When I open a tab, there is no way to close it other than to use the arrow to go back through each page. In Help, I see there is an "x" for this which is not shown on my tool bar. Also, when I open more than one tab, the new tab takes the place of the tab already opened, instead of appearing beside it. Per Help, I should be able to use Ctrl W to close a tab, but this closes my screen instead. Thanks.

Set the pref browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing the browser and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.
To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Middle-click on the Tab
or Right-click the Tab and select Close Tab
or use {Ctrl + F4}
Thanks for this info. This seems to work only if I click on Open New Tab first, then choose a bookmark from my list, say, CNN. The tab is placed right of the previous tab. If I click on the bookmark, CNN, first, and close it by using close tab, the result is the Firefox screen is closed. I thought there was a way that each opened bookmark automatically was placed to the right of the existing tab, without having to click on Open New Tab first. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your clear instructions. I did it, and it works.
