Hi, I am fairly new to using Firefox and am currently using 3.6.14. I am running on desktop with Windows XP. I imported by bookmarks from IE using utility or addon from Firefox. I initially thought that my bookmarks were not imported, due to getting message during import. However, when I go into manage bookmarks in Firefox, they appear to be there. Perhaps the issue reported during import was related to cookies, etc .. ? At any rate, my question is related to import of bookmarks, as I stated, they are in Firefox, but:

The name of the bookmark and file structure is correct, as it was in IE, but the imported bookmarks do not have the correct location associated to them. Any that I have saved since import are fine, but imported are not correct. Is there a fix for this ? Has anyone else had same issue and will re-importing fix or will I just need to weed through and correct the entries ?

Thank you,

Barry

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Export the Favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File
