How do you disable the URL drop down box?
when i type in a few letters of the URL, about ten suggestions of previously visited sites pop up in a drop down box. how do i prohibit this from happening?

You can find that setting here:
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: Nothing
