my top sites keep erasing on their own and when i open a new tab it only goes to a blank page no matter what i set to it. What gives?

ever since this new upgrade I've had nothing but problems. I had a Norton toolbar on my old version that had all my logins no that's gone and I can't get it back. My top sites keeps randomly deleting pages, so now I have to keep trying to find them and add them over and over. When I open a new tab it's just a blank page no matter what I try to set to it. So what gives? Is there any way to fix this? Also, how can i change the background?

1. Norton says they'll have their Firefox 4.0 extensions available in May.
2. "top sites" ?? Do you mean some bookmarks are getting lost?
3. By default, Firefox displays a blank page in a new Tab. You need an extension like this to be able to set a specific web page to be displayed in a new Tab.
