Pop up tool tips how do I stop the tool tip popup when my curson hovers near a button in Firefox
How do I disable the annoying tool tip pop up whenever my cursob hovers near a bookmark or button. I would also like to add a tab close button on the last tab open so I have a blank tab instaed of the last site I visited.

To turn of tooltips you can change a hidden preference.
- Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
- Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
- Locate the preference browser.chrome.toolbar_tips and double-click on it to change its value to false
If you mean the status messages and URLs that appear in the bottom left hand corner, the easiest way to control them is to use the Status-4-Evar add-on. With it you can choose to not display any of the status messages, or display them in the add-ons bar or location bar instead. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/status-4-evar
