I upgraded Firefox to the newest version, and it is incompatible with my Mac OS X.4. How do I go back to my old version?
I am running my old Mac PowerBook on Tiger (10.4.11). When I updated Firefox, a standard note came up recommending that I use the newest version. I downloaded it, and moved it to my application folder. Now when I try and open Firefox, it has a slash across it, and I have a message that the program is not compatible with my computer. I'd like to go back to my old version, and ideally keep all of my stored passwords that were in Firefox before the upgrade. Can anyone help?

When you re-install 3.6 it will use the same set of bookmarks, passwords etc that Firefox 4 is using.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com
I have this exact problem too. Can I just download FF3.6, or do I need to actually uninstall FF4 to correct the problem? I can't find an uninstall option on my mac...
Hi TonyE,
I appreciate the link to download 3.6. That is likely what I had before. Any thoughts on how I can preserve all of the settings from my previous version that are now locked into the the 4.0 version? Otherwise, I start from scratch and lose my bookmarks, stored passwords, etc.

Hooray! When I replaced Firefox 4 with 3.6, everything works just fine. Thanks again TonyE.
