You can use an add-on such as either of the following 2 to block sites, but this is easily bypassed:
- BlockSite- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/blocksite
- LeechBlock - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/leechblock
An alternative approach is to use the HOSTS file to block the site. For details see http://allthingsmarked.com/2006/08/28/howto-block-websites-using-the-hosts-file
