You are using quite an old version, Firefox 3.6, the latest release is Firefox 3.6.15. You can get it by selecting "Check for updates" in the Help menu. Firefox 4.0 is due out next week.

Firefox has a built in spell checker, for derails on using it see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Using+the+spell+checker
