how to get firefox starting page everytime you log on & also my downloads disappear when finished loading

I would like to have firefox open with the starting page every time I log on ,how can I make it do that when I download things it disappears as soon as it is finished downloading it never used to do that can you tell me how to change my settings for these items

Make sure that Firefox remembers the download history:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember download history"
