I used to be able to drag and drop my bookmarks into folders that I created . It doesn't work any more. I can copy and paste but not drag and drop.

I can only move 1 bookmark before it stops working, but this is with Firefox version 4.0.1

I was having this problem with Firefox 5.0, until I opened and closed a few tabs. For some reason tabs became draggable again.

When it was broken, the mouse cursor would change just for an instant when trying to drag, then go back to a normal arrow cursor.

I could do it with any version of Firefox under Windows. Now that I have switched to Ubuntu 11.10, and Firefox 8.0, and cannot drag an URL to a bookmark folder anymore.  :-(

HELP!

Is there a solution to this problem? If there is ...where is it?

Most annoying.

I found the answer to my problems. The Torbutton add-on inhibits Drag and Drop functions (especially of Bookmarks). When I disable Torbutton, Drag and Drop works again. When I enable it, Drag and Drop stops. So, obviously, I disable it whenever I want to manually sort items with Drag and Drop.

I have read that there are about 5 or 6 other add-ons that also inhibit Drag and Drop functionality, not just the Torbutton add-on. The list is somewhere in the main Firefox support section (but it's tough to find the answer there twice).

The generic add-on troubleshooting page is at:
