"Websites track where surfers have been" does Firefox have anything to prevent this?
Read in Tampa paper "SAN FRANCISCO Dozens of websites have been secretly harvesting lists of places that their users previously visited online, everything from news articles to bank sites to pornography, a team of computer scientists found."

You're using a 2 year old version of Firefox that isn't supported any longer, wasn't the last of that version (3.0.19), and you're concerned about being "tracked"?
If you wish to not being tracked in the future do this.
1. Update to the latest version of FF. Configure the new version to not accept 3rd party cookies.
2. Download and install the add-on "Ghostery." This extension will detect and block tracking cookies.
3. Download and install the add-on BetterPrivacy. This does the same as ghostry except it aims for LSO Flash cookies(which can stay on your system for extremely long times).

Thank you for the information. I have updated FF to version 3.6.12 and will download the programs you recommended.
Thanks again for your help.
You're quite welcome.
