I am unable to update to the new version, "proxy server refusing connection."
I am running version 3.6.3 right now and I have not been able to do any of the recent updates, because after I go through the download process and launch Firefox I receive the message "proxy server is refusing connections please try again later, and I am unable to get to the internet unless I redo the 3.6.3 setup. Anybody that has the magic answer would be great, since I have to go through this process every day when I get on my laptop...
Chosen solution
If you were using Firefox 3.6.4 or higher, a new preference was added to the Connection Settings proxy preferences in Tools > Options > Advanced >> Network tab - Connection = Settings = Use system proxy settings
If you select No proxy and restart Firefox your problem should be fixed.

Hi I am having this problem and tried to follow your instructions. However, when I got to 'Advanced' I did not see a Network Tab. The closest reference I could find under my 'settings' was 'HTTP1.1 - use HTTP1.1 through Proxy connections' I have the option of 'unclicking' that box. I wasn't sure if that would solve my problem. Thanks Jackie
Which version of Firefox do you have (Help > About) ?
See "Firefox connection settings" in Server Not Found - Troubleshoot connection problems
Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Hi I can't get into Firefox either from the desktop or through a programm search (I get the 'Proxy Server refusing connections message') but I think it is version 3.6.3.

Hi I should also say that I was trying to download version 3.6.12. Thanks Jackie
Hi It's me again. I finally was able to find the 'tools' tab on my MozillaFirefox site and followed your instructions. It worked like a charm. Thanks a lot.
Jackie
where would I find Tools > Options > Advanced >> Network tab - Connection = Settings = ? Is it under FireFox or under my username?
EDIT: Right after I posted this I found it! Thanks

I did what you've instructed, but then no matter how many times I set it no proxy and restart Mozilla Firefox, it still says "proxy server refusing connections". How can I set it no proxy permanently?
