Page elements missing
I recently installed Firefox 3.6.12 on a new machine running 64-bit Windows 7. Now, elements on certain web pages are missing. For example, at amazon.com there should be a blue bar at the top of the screen, an orange box at the left, and two buttons at the right labeled "cart" and "wish list." The text for these elements is displayed, however.
The pages display normally in IE8. And what's really strange is that they display normally on an older XP computer running Firefox. I have compared the Firefox settings on the two machines; they are identical.
Things I have tried:
Started Firefox in safe mode; no change. Got latest version of Java. Javascript is turned on. Firewall turned off for testing; no effect. "Load images automatically" is checked; no exceptions Cleared cache
Ideas? Or has Microsoft found a way to sabotage Firefox?

I noticed the same issue in some profiles. It looks that some background images are not loaded properly. I had to delete the cookies a few times and reload the page via Ctrl + F5 to bypass the cache to make it work, but I have no idea why that was needed.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
- "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
- "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
I tried this, did not help. Thanks anyway.
You may need to repeat clearing the Amazon cookies and a reload via Ctrl + F5 a few times and you can also try to close and restart Firefox after clearing the Amazon cookies. It was a weird issue for me.
I had a similar problem. I Googled all kinds of stuff and never found an answer. I finally figured out: Tools/Page Info/Media. Near the bottom of the page is a check box for "Block Images from g-ecx.images-amazon.com". Once I unchecked that the page displayed properly.
