What is this Java error message and how do I fix it? Loading FF v3.6.11 on laptop Win XP HE
Error loading preferences. [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIPrefBranch.getBoolPref]" nsresult: "0x8000ffff (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://facebookfilter/content/overlay.js :: anonymous :: line 472" data: no]
I click OK and FF loads and works fine, but it is annoying as heck. It has to have something to do with Chrome, as I have recently installed that on my system, and exported bookmarks for FF to it. How do I correct it? I am not savvy at editing Java scripts but if you explain how I will be able. I will be very grateful.

That is a problem with the Facebook Filter extension.
Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Cor-el, thanks for the reply...after some checking along the line you suggest, no glory. The extension is called Feed Filter by choclatesoftware, and is quite good for it's capability in filtering out a lot of the roo-rah on the Facebook news feed page and other FB things.
However I did look at this addon's web site and saw an update was available, that FF addon update nor choclatesoftware did not notify me of as is usually the case with them....(?)
With all the updates going on here at the end of October 2010, several from others as well as FF(3.6.10, .11, .12 in rapid succession for example), I guess new FFs and new updates overall are not always covered. A good lesson along different lines...maybe more problems will come along when FF 4 is released! :)
The addon update fixed the issue; once again, thanks for the attention. BTW I like your Krypton nom de guerre. ;) Lar
