After a bit of surfing with ff, I find myself needing to return the current hard drive to the store for a replacement. Will my personal info be safe from future "undeletes", or whatever, if I just clear everything right in ff, or would that leave a possibility of some future owner of the drive being able to retrieve some of it? I'm on win xp if that's makes a difference.

If you want to prevent the possibility of data recovery, you should use a utility that will wipe the disk. There are many utilities, some free, that offer this feature, but I have not used any so can not recommend any one in particular.

If you do a Google search on "wipe disk" or "secure delete" you will find many options.
