Firefox is having major problems with invisionfree forum websites, instead of showing pages from these sites it comes up with a content encoding error, either as whole or for everything but the index page.

This started about a month ago with forums hosted on server z7, and as of today affects those hosted by z13. Safari can load these pages fine, but internet explorer, firefox, and google chrome cannot.

I have cleared cookies, turned off anti-virus, and there is no change. So i'm fairly certain this is not just my system.

tried going on their support forum, but of course I got a content encoding error.

I also have this problem. I believe it is caused by being connected through a proxy which is adding a second compression to the data. (I think IF uses gzip compression already).

Added details:

  • Opera also works.
  • I can view the IF admin section on FF
  • I can view the forum if I go through a web proxy.
