Setting up a new email account

peter11

I am trying to set up a new email address with Thunderbird. I have copied all the imap and smtp settings from my old address in to the new one. It is now asking for a password but I have not been asked to set up a new password for the new address. Where do I go from here?

No, your email client is Thunderbird. Your email provider is probably the word to the right of the @ in the email address.

You need to secure the password from the email provider.

Sorry I don't understand your reply. My provider is Thunderbird as I understand it. How to I get them to give me the password?

That points me in another direction. The @xxxxx is a private domain. Finger crossed I have a password. Thank you

If a private domain, the password may possibly be retrieved from the webhost provider who established the domain. If this is a webhosted account, normally the cpanel feature will have that.

thank you for your help. I have updated my password. I am hoping this will solve the problem. I will try again tomorrow.
