The folder 'Inbox on ....' could not be compacted because it contains unexpected data.
What is "unexpected data"? How can I recognise the emails that are affected, so I can delete them?

Is this a POP3 account or IMAP?
The first thing to try would be to Repair the folder, in case its index is corrupt. To do that, right-click on the Inbox folder name in the Folders List pane, choose "Properties" from the pop-up context menu, then click the "Repair Folder" button. Then try compacting the folder.
Does that help? If not, report back and we can try more drastic measures.
