yahoo not populating email after password change
After changing the password in a browser (Mac), only emails from August 9th repopulate (5 of them from different senders). There were about 25 of each email piled up and that is why I changed the password. I deleted all of them, changed password again a week later; but only those 5 same August 9th emails populate again. When I updated and restarted third after changing yahoo password, it took me to the yahoo webpage asking permission for third to access mail and I agreed. Not sure if there is some setting to change in Tbird?

If you change password in your webmail account. It means the Oauth password auto created by yahoo also needs to get updated. So you would get the yahoo webpage asking if you want to allow Thunderbird access to account.
If I change/modify password via webmail account I then remove the stored passwords from Thunderbird to ensure there is no confusion.
- Settings > Privacy & Security
- Passwords section
- click on 'Saved Passwords'
- For any line that has the 'username' = email address of update password account, I remove those lines.
Pop accounts have lines starting : mailbox:// Imap accounts have lines starting with : imap:// Smtp server have lines starting with : smtp:// Any server that uses Authentication Method: Oauth2 will have lines starting with: oauth://
- Click on 'Close'
- Exit Thunderbird, wait a few moments for files to get updated.
- Start Thunderbird and there will be a request for password
If you use a server that uses Oauth2 then expect it to open in a browser asking to allow permission. Then a new Oauth token gets saved in Thunderbird in same area as regular passwords.
Possible reason: Not sure how many emails you already have in the Inbox. but yahoo do have a policy that restricts the number allowed to be downloaded and displayed in imap - 10, 000
Mind you, that is a lot and I would feel that is incredibly risky to have 10, 000 emails downloaded and all of then stored one after the other in a single mbox text file. If something went wrong with that file you could lose a lot of emails. If an Anti-Virus decided to try and fix something in that file, you could lose everything as AV's do not understand that one file does not necessarily mean one email.
Simple way to get around that limit is to create some folders and move/sort and organise emails into them. Eg: Friends, Family, Hobby, Online Orders, Business etc Or maybe create folders for different years eg: 2025 and move any email with a 2025 year date into that folder. Leaving the Inbox to act as an Inbox for new mail.
Maybe you have a Filter operating: Select 'Inbox' Make sure you can see 'Quick Filter' Do you have any of those Quick Filter icons selected ? If yes, click on the icon to disable it.
Also check to see if all threads are enabled. Enable the 'Menu Bar' if it is not already visible:
- 'Menu app icon' (3 lines) > 'View' > 'Toolbars' > select 'Menu Bar'
On 'Menu Bar' toolbar
- 'View' > 'Threads' > select 'All'
