how to retrieve, via search, received messages in Thunderbird? when using search it only supplies me with those message which I posted myself, but these I received.

retrieve via search from where? and for that matter which search? There is Ctrl+K Ctrl+Shift+K and ctrl+shift+F all search your existing messages.
