Deleting all messages which are in the 'Deleted ' folder

  • Bulleted list item

I have built up a collection of more than 400 deleted emails in my 'Deleted' folder. I am sure I will not need to refer to any of them again, and I would like to finally remove them. In the past, there was a command among the various sets of commands at the top of the page, which removed all of them, after confirming that this is what I wished to do. I can no longer find this command. Please tell me where to find it. If it no longer exists, tell me how to deal with 'deleted' material.

Chosen solution

The folder pane shows your folders such as "Inbox" and "Deleted". Just right click on the "Deleted" folder to get the option to empty the trash. Some e-mail accounts put trash in a "Deleted" or "Deleted Items" folder. Others put it in a "Trash" folder. All the same.

You can also set Thunderbird to empty your trash automatically after a set time.

The command at the top of the page may have been in the application menu under "File". If you don't see the application menu and you use Windows, press the <alt> key.

Trash and junk are different.

Right-click Trash in the folder pane - Empty Trash.

Not able to understand the reply. What is the 'folder pane' ? I have never met the word 'trash' in Thunderbird. Is 'trash' the same as 'junk'?
