missing local folders in TB folder pane after 143.0.1 (bug1990571 ? )
Within the TB desktop app the local folders alphabetically below "C", including sub-folders within a folder "Credit Card Processors" have disappeared. The drop down Folder Pane has cutoff. I see in my Profile the missing folder icons with .sbd extensions and files that duplicate the folder names, one with no extension and one with .msf extension. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and other "fixes" I found online. I'm using Owl for Exchange so my storage folders are on my desktop and also backed up on a separate drive. Additionally, there was an update at 10:05am this morning and it seems like this may be more than a coincidence. I'm on Windows 11 machine, version 143.0.1 (64-bit). Thank you.

Thank you for the replies. I was able to fix the problem. I had a Profile folder backup from the previous day on a separate drive. I uninstalled TB and manually deleted other associated folders. If you don't do that and reinstall, it uses data in those folders and it doesn't generate a new Profile folder and the problem didn't resolve. So, I reinstalled which prompted to setup a new account, but I closed TB, then copied the contents of the backed up Profile folder into the newly generated profile folder. When I reopened TB, the problem was still there in the Folder Pane, but there were newly created folders, as well. I checked my Windows folder and began deleting the new folders that didn't contain any data and moved around the folders/mail I needed. When I reopened TB everything was restored and visible. My use of local email clients goes back 20+ years (Outlook Express), so different installs and imports have generated multiple "Imported Folders" within local folders. Maybe during the software update something happened?

Also, I was able to create a sub-folder in a Local Folder within TB that shows up in the profile folder, but I can't delete it from within TB or any other emails/folders within Local Folders. They respond to reply and junk, but it's like the Delete is disabled, right-click>Delete doesn't work either. Inbox is working fine.
re :Within the TB desktop app the local folders alphabetically below "C", including sub-folders within a folder "Credit Card Processors" have disappeared. The drop down Folder Pane has cutoff.....using Owl for Exchange....
You mention local folders and I'm making sure there is no confusion by what you mean as 'local folders'.
Confirm I understand the issue: the missing folders are only in the exchange mail account set up using OWL and not in the 'Local Folders' special account.

This sounds like an issue with access or permissions rights. Where is your profile folder located ? Sometimes there are issues with permitted access if you have profile on a NAS or dropbox folder etc.

Did you get the Thunderbird installation from Windows app store or did you download it from the offical webpage : https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/
This info is important as Windows app store inconveniently puts profile in a different location which is completely different from all the help article info.
Also what Anti-virus are you using? Is it allowed to scan your Thunderbird profile folders? Do you use any Anti-Virus or any cleanup programs like CCleaner etc to clean up temp files etc and if yes are they allowed access to Thunderbird profile ?
Hi priestjay
First, what Toad-Hall said :-)
Second, have you tried Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode? If it works in TB Troubleshoot mode, it's probably a 3rd party issue like an add-on issue. If it doesn't work in Troubleshoot Mode then it may be a Thunderbird bug.
Cheers! ...Roland

priestjay,
Glad you have solve your problem, but we have other users reporting issues.
So answers to the previously posted questions are extremely important ...
1. Did you get the Thunderbird installation from Windows app store or did you download it from the offical webpage : https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/. This info is important as Windows app store inconveniently puts profile in a different location which is completely different from all the help article info.

3. Do you use any Anti-Virus or any cleanup programs like CCleaner etc to clean up temp files etc and if yes are they allowed access to Thunderbird profile ?
I got the download from the Thunderbird site. I'm on a desktop running Webroot SecureAnywhere v. 9.0.40.53. I believe it does scan profile folders, I've not set it up to do otherwise. I have not run any programs to clean up temp files. This is a rather new desktop running Windows 11 Pro. I did try Troubleshoot mode, it did not help or make any difference. The only thing I believe that occurred was an auto update to TB that had happened in the morning, during the time I was checking email, according to the update history.
