It would be nice to have a setting to permanently delete messages in the trash folder after X days.

Chosen solution

  1. Right click on the trash folder.
  2. Select "Properties".
  3. Select the "Retention Policy" tab.
  4. Set the retention period.
  5. Click on "OK".

Please note that retention removes messages based on the date of the email, not based on the date from which you deleted a message.
