Thunderbird wont open on mac after downloading
Heya I just downloaded and supported Thunderbird as i was super excited for a new email client however it won't open at all. The icon bounces for a few minutes and then it crashes and needs a force quit. I attempted to open in troubleshoot mode but it didn't. I've restarted my Mac and still refuses to open. I also have uninstalled and redownloaded Thunderbird. I'm currently running Catalina 10.15.7 on a MacBook Pro (Mid 2015). Any help would be great. Thank you!

I seem to have made it work after downloading a fuller version of Thunderbird, it was a version that wasn't "recommended". It appears to be working and downloading all my emails on to it.

Where did you download this "fuller version of Thunderbird" from? Be careful, there is a recent bug which strikes only Mac users of Catalina; it can be a startup crash as well as a closing crash: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1977514
This bug will be fixed in v143 coming soon.
It was in the drop down download menu on this website, there is a "recommended" version and an Extended Support Release, it was this one that finally worked and is still working. Do you know what the differences are between these two versions? Thank you for validating that it wasn't just my IT incompetence that was making it not start.
