Restoring pages when not asked to restore them
How to avoid Firefox restoring previous tabs when starting up. I've read about several solutions (all I could find) that don't work for me. Sometimes I have tens of pages opened and when I close Firefox I don't want 50 pages to be restored. Don't ask me if I have the restore option activated, I haven't. I switched to Nightly to see if it would solve the problem, it did for about 2 months and now it's also happening with Nightly. I have antivirus that include anti-tracking services but I would not know how this could interfere with Firefox settings or if my antivirus has anything to do with it. The issue is so annoying to me that I'm thinking to switch to another browser if I find no solution. I noticed more people complaining about the same issue but it seems not enough for it to be taken seriously in order to solve or be given an explanation. On the other hand it seems not everyone is having the same issue witch makes it even more mind boggling to me. Besides some add-blockers and translation I have no extensions installed. If you happen to know what the issue is I'll be glad to hear from you.

Hi Ivu,
I get why this is driving you crazy — if you close Firefox with 50 tabs open, the last thing you want is all of them coming back again. Since you’ve already made sure “Restore previous session” is off, it’s likely something else is making Firefox think it needs to bring those tabs back.
Here are a few things worth trying:
1. Turn off crash recovery Sometimes Firefox assumes it “crashed” instead of being closed normally, so it restores everything. You can turn that off:
Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
Click Accept the Risk and Continue.
Search for browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash → set it to false.
Search for browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes → set it to 0.
2. Close Firefox before shutting down your computer If the computer shuts down while Firefox is still open, it can trigger the crash recovery above. Close Firefox fully first, wait a few seconds, then shut down.
3. Check your antivirus anti-tracking feature Some antivirus tools interfere with Firefox’s session files. Try temporarily turning off the anti-tracking option, then close and reopen Firefox to see if the problem goes away.
4. Try Troubleshoot Mode Go to Menu → Help → Troubleshoot Mode, restart Firefox in that mode, and see if it still happens. If it stops, something in your extensions or settings is causing it.
If none of this helps, we can dig into your Firefox profile folder and see if something’s corrupted in the session files.
You’re not alone in this — I’ve seen other people run into it, and usually one of the above fixes works. Hopefully this will stop Firefox from greeting you with 50 tabs every time.

Thank you Shameel Ahmad, I will do everything as you mentioned and let you know if and what solved the issue. I know I'm not alone in this and while using Firefox (now I'm using Nightly) I did read the forums and tried the changes mentioned in the about:config section, I don't remember if they are the same you are mentioning here. I will anyhow follow all steps and let you know. One thing I didn't mention is it doesn't happen every time I open Firefox/Nightly so to see if something really changed will take some time. (I never shut down my PC with my browser still running) Thanks again!
