Everything in the inbox is gobbledygook (bitdefender)

As I can not ring to ask what has gone wrong I am writing it here.

Late last night I received 2 messages which were gobbledegook. This morning when I turned on they all came in the same. One could work out from where they came because email addresses showed up in the text in blue.

I shut down Thunderbird. Reloaded the software from the website and loaded it. Everything still coming in as gobbledegook.

I then remembered that I also can down load emails through IMAP. Went there and they were all perfectly legible. So I moved all the messages to my ordinary inbox expecting it to automatically apply the filters and it did not.

Why is IMAP working and the ordinary inbox is not??????????????????????????????????????

I have just spotted that every gobbledygook email starts like this:-

(no subject)

Solution update posted at 8:48 Eastern time (12:48 UTC) Thursday by Alexlandru_BD, an admin at bitdefender, "The developers reverted the changes made in the last signature update and this should do the trick until a permanent fix is deployed. Just click on update in systray and reboot once completed. But keep in mind this change is being rolled out gradually, so it may not reach everyone at the same time.." Thank you all working correctly now. Interesting that IMAP continued to work normally but the ordinary one did not. AL-W
