Tried to send an email just now, but cannot figure out how to open a fresh file so I can compose the message. In past versions of the program, I would open a new file to address and compose within using the File command, but this familiar method seems to have been supplanted.

From searches I see there is now a new method, and in lieu of the command menu there appears in the top left corner of the screen an icon representing an envelope. Clicking this envelope produces a drop down menu but it makes no direct reference to a composing a new email.

Utterly basic problem, but there is no clear guidance I can find. Thank you for your time and insights.

Thank you Ed. Apparently the menu bar had vanished. Another way to bring it back if it should disappear, I just learned, is to right click on a blank spot in the toolbar. Regards Michael
