moving to new laptop

more options

I use Spectrum (brighthouse.com) for my email server. I am using it on my current laptop. I have tried to put the same settings onto my new laptop and it won't work. I have contacted Spectrum and they are the correct settings. Now it is asking for a new password. that also didn't work. I am still using my previous password on my old laptop and that is working.

Try this - it preserves your whole existing setup from the laptop:

1. Launch Thunderbird on the old laptop

2. Go to Thunderbird menu > Help > Troubleshooting Information

3. Click the Application Basics > Profile Folder 'Open Folder' button

4. The profile folder will open; navigate three levels up to the Roaming folder

5. Close TB, then copy the Thunderbird folder to a flash drive

6. Go to the new laptop's Roaming folder as instructed above and delete the Thunderbird folder

7. Paste the Thunderbird folder from the flash drive to the new PC

8. Launch Thunderbird
