138.0.4 allowed me to install an image of my own to the Firefox background. the latest upgrade doesn't give that option. why? Can i add a line entry to newer code to give me this option?

It should be there. To bring it back, enter about:config in the address bar and set browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabWallpapers.customWallpaper.enabled to true.
