The messages could not be sent due to a server-side error related to spam filtering. Email providers may limit the no. of recipients in a single message to prevent spam. You can try to create a mailing list with the 50 recipients and use the mailing list in the To: field instead. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-create-and-use-mailing-lists-thunderbird

If this still doesn't help talk to your email provider.
