Hi community, yesterday I was in thunderbird and suddenly a loud noise came out of my laptop and I was not able to do anything anymore. I took the energy of it and later started it again. Then I saw a new version of thunderbird was opening and I tried to continue with this one. But everything I had in my private account, files, subfiles and addressbook were gone. Only the inbox was still there. Can you let me know why this happened and how I can recover all my private stuff. Among them are very important e-mail exchanges with authorities and addresses. Please note that I am only an ordinary user without any profound knowledge of informatics. Thanks.'bold text'

Other people are better with these issues than I am, so I hope that they respond too.

It seems that Thunderbird is loading the wrong profile. Look in Help - Troubleshooting information - about:profiles. Do you see another profile that might be the one that you want? You can launch it in a new instance of Thunderbird and see.

Your concern suggests that you may not have a back-up copy of your data. If that is true, you really should back up your files.
