Thunderbird has begun crashing at increasing rates, now every couple of minutes. Caused by Bitdefender.

Thunderbird will run and retrieve messages from account, but keeps crashing after 1-2 minutes each time. There are a lot of archived emails, and 1,500+ in Inbox, but sufficient disk space on the PC.

Chosen solution

This is addressed here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1940810

and is related to Bitdefender. In the meantime, I suggest disabling BD scanning of the TB profile, or simply removing it and using the built-in Windows Security.

Thanks! I will try this.

This did not work for me. Still crashes. Was it the actual profile to put as exception or is the folder its in fine?

I used c:\program files (x86)\mozilla thunderbird and seems to be working so far, about ten days without any issues

Andre,

If you are still crashing, please create a new question. Sorry for the delay, but unfortunately you (and I) may not have seen prior ressponses because the notification system was broken.

Thanks

FWIW, the crash only affects 32bit versions of Thunderbird. If you install the 64bit Thunderbird into the same directory it should not crash.
