Hi, if you have your desired page open in one tab, and then open the Settings page in another tab, you can copy/paste the address into the Custom URLs box. There is an article with the steps for this: How to set the home page.

Is that what you already tried? What is going wrong -- is some other page appearing in new windows (Ctrl+N)?
