I found an interim solution to the problem of the corrupted PDF files by Thunderbird Nebula, as follows:

take Thunderbird offline - move the email with the corrupted PDF attachment to Outlook Archive folder - put Thunderbird back in the online modus - move email from the Archive folder to the Incoming Post folder
