Sending mail
Good morning (in South Africa). When I send mail, it sends it twice. How can I fix it please?

Hello there We have read the message We try to help you
This automatically sends a copy to the dispatch message that has been sent.
you would need to change the settings to leave a copy here ,to turn this off.
This option can be turned off under copies and folders in tools/and account settings.

Hello there
It can also happen if you use bad networks for a period of time. Internet traffic can behave differently. It also occurs when Thunderbird is busy creating or healing your data during a break.

Thank you very much for your reply. I've looked at the settings and it does not give me any options about copy. When I send mail from both my email addresses, it sends the mail twice. Where else can I look.
Thank you Jacques
Many servers will auto put a copy of a sent email into the server 'Sent' folder. If you use an IMAP account then you will see whatever is on the server in the Sent folder. If you have also instructed Thunderbird to put a copy in the 'Sent' folder, then Thunderbird will do as instructed. The net result means you see two copies of same email in imap Sent folder.
It does not mean two copies of each email is actually sent.
- In Account Settings
- 'Copies & Folders' for the mail account.
- When sending messages, automatically:
- Do not select 'Place a copy in' - uncheck this option to switch it off.
This prevents Thunderbird from adding a copy of sent email to Sent folder. Restart Thunderbird to ensure those settings are being used.
Then try sending an email. If server is auto putting email in Sent then you should end up seeing just the one copy in imap Sent folder. After a short while, Select 'Sent' folder to force a synchronise to see if it appears.
Hello there
Once your topic has been resolved, you can also choose to use the add-on that you like to use if you would like to have a copy of your incoming emails in a folder.

Hello there
your message will indeed be listed as a sent message, but the copy of your message if you resume this setting and you can indeed disable this, it will be placed in your sent folder or in the designated folder. You can also transfer it later to a subfolder or third parties.
Your recipient will not receive a second message from this same email.

Hello there
You can call this a phenomenon if it matters.
Gmail and Outlook together with Thunderbird's use have a clear view of always sending a copy to your inbox software.
