bold text4 or 5 years ago i simply synced TB and Firefox straight to my laptop from my desktop. Today it does not seem to work that way. Why has it gotten more complicated? I have all of my emails, address's and etc.saved profile and cannot seem to replace it. I tried the thunderbird.exe -p and it gets confusing there. Apparently it does not give one the option to replace profile like mine, but one can create one. I tried creating by entering my old Profile and it did not work. It says to use the Browse button which should bring you to the actual spot to add your profile. I do not see a 'Browser" button, but do see 2 separate folders buttons, but i do not know which to choose, if any. I have donated in the past when things were working smoothly, but discourged to add to it now with all these upgrade mess's. Like they say, "if it ain't broken, leave it alone..." s amd

OK, ater a few minutes of posting my previous reply, i tried again and this time I did find "About Profile"....the reason I did not see first time, it seemed greyed out...regardless, now again your instructions get a little confusing...you say that once i create a profile i should choose another name, which I did...and finishing I saw both profiles, the existing small one and the replacement that I wanted, but I did not see the one that u recommend to rename again, so I picked the one I originally renamed with all of my past TB info, clicked Finish. Now i am nervous to check it out to see if it worked, cause I am expecting a very important email overnight and do not want to risk on not being able to get it. Once i get that email then I will try...thanks for now.

Scrolling down this thread i see that the very latest post I sent last night is not shown here..so i will do a little repeat here. Like that saying goes,"getting close, but no cigar". I left with my profile old is finallyshown in the trouble shoot layout, where it says that it cannot be deleted. This morning, I opened TB, troubleshoot default and now the Profile that appeared last night, was not there...one of the other one. I want to get some comfirmation from you...about import/export mode. Are you saying i should go to the destination pc, import from there? I opened my old profile and clicked on Properties and it showed all the files of 2.1 gb...if that means any thing.

I am puzzled on your problem, as copying in a profile is a simple process. Since you're having difficulties, but seem comfortable with windows file explorer. let's try a simple, non-thunderbird approach. - exit thunderbird - locate the active profile, which you should know from my prior posts - copy the profile elsewhere, anywhere that's safe and can be returned to if needed - copy the contents of your old profile and paste into the active profile folder. - restart thunderbird.
