Hi Felix, Firefox stores all your data, such as bookmarks and history, locally on disk. If you sign Firefox into a Mozilla/Firefox Account, you can Sync your data to the cloud. This data is encrypted with your Mozilla/Firefox Account password, and should be available when you sign in with that same password on another installation of Firefox. However, this definitely isn't perfect and if you reset your password, the data is flushed.
If you think that Sync should have restored some older data to your new installation of Firefox, you can check what data is in the Sync cloud for your Mozilla Account using the About Sync add-on:
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/about-sync/
After you install the add-on, you can type or paste about:sync in the address bar and press Enter to load it. The page shows each category of data currently found in the Sync cloud.
Scroll down to bookmarks and look at the little tab that says "Records (table)" to see what is stored on the server (or "Records (object)" where you can click triangles to expand the results).

Hi thank you for your reply, i think it got flushed then because i had forgotten my password so i reset the password. Thanks for the heads up.
When you use Windows' Reset feature, it often creates a backup of your data in the following temporary folder:
C:\Windows.old
If you find that folder:
Set Windows to show hidden files and folders -- this Microsoft article has the steps:
Then explore that folder up to this point (if it exists):
C:\Windows.old\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\
If you find recent data there, please pause and we can suggest how to resurrect your saved files.
