Outgoing E-Mail -- Failure to Connect

Without warning, in midday several days ago, I started receiving the following error message when attempting to send an e-mail on my office computer:

Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtpauth.earthlink.net timed out. Try again.

My account settings show the following for my outgoing server:

Earthlink - smptauth.,earathlink.net (default)

That is the same as my home computer -- which works fine.

Updating my Thunderbird program via download did no good.

I suggest you try disabling your antivirus and try again. Sounds like classic issue caused by antivirus products, timeouts because they delay sending.
