On latest version 115.3.1 (64 bit) when I click on GET MESSAGES nothing seems to happen for several minutes than after repeated clicks on same suddenly line at bottom shows downloading some number of messages. Is this something I am doing to slow what used to be very speedy process to download messages from Comcast server to my PC?

When I opened Tbird app today, my messages show in various folders but only a list of messages, not a screen to view contents of message being examined. I did not do anything I am aware of to change this and haven't been able to locate setting to turn on the message content view again. Also on list of messages, they are shown but with a much wider spacing (double space?) with lot of wasted blank space. How to correct this?

I found some answers after reviewing the email received from Mozilla about change to TBird 115.

In order to see the Message Pane, go to app menu (3 bars)<View>Layout>Message Pane (F8). That got the view of message contents when looking at a message as before.

For the extra spacing between lines, go to app menu (3 bars) and click on one of the 3 options shown by Density. Compact (first option) condenses view as in previous version.

Still do not have a clue as to why messages are downloading so much slower.

I found today that in version 115 sending emails works but as with Get Messages it works V---E---R---Y slowly. A simple little message just required about 38 seconds to finish sending. Have we brought back the Pony Express?

Are you still seeing slowness? What OS are you running?

Thanks for reply. Yes, I still see this unusual slowness downloading messages. Most of the time it seems to work fine but at least a couple of days each week it will suddenly take a lengthy pause before downloading (40 seconds or so). I have tried pressing the Get Messages button multiple times with no apparent effect until after the lengthy pause when several messages suddenly pop up on screen warning that I need to wait for previous download request to finish before requesting another.

I am running MS Windows 11 Home,

     Version 10.0.22631 Build 22631
     on a desktop Dell XPS 8950 with Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700, 2100 Mhz, 12 Core(s), 20 Logical Processor(s)
with 32GB Ram and 1TB SSD.

I sometimes wonder if the internet provider, Comcast, could be causing the problem but only have noticed the pronounced slowness with TBird. Joe
